Malcesine, Italy – 17 June 2025 – The International Switch Class is proud to announce Ronstan as its newest Official Technical Partner, joining forces with the class ahead of Foiling Week 2025, which kicks off this Sunday, 22 June, in Malcesine, Lake Garda.
The SWITCH is a new-generation one-design foiling class known for its accessibility, exhilaration, and technical performance – values shared by Ronstan, a global leader in high-performance sailing hardware.
“We are incredibly proud to be Official Partner of the SWITCH Class,” said Håkon Bergby, Marketing Manager at Ronstan. “The SWITCH represents the future of foiling. It is accessible, exhilarating, and built to the highest standard, just like our high-performance hardware. The partnership is a natural fit, and we’re excited to help sailors push the limits with equipment they can trust.”
Foiling Week Set to Host a Diverse and World-Class Fleet
This year’s Foiling Week has attracted over 30 sailors from 13 countries, with an exceptional mix of experience and talent across the fleet. Olympic gold medallists Tom Burton (AUS), Matt Wearn (AUS), and Stuart Bithell (GBR) will line up alongside current ILCA powerhouse and Olympian Micky Beckett (GBR), Erik Heil (GER), a double 49er Olympic bronze medallist, and veteran Simon Hiscocks – also a double Olympic medallist in the 49er. Very promising to see the women’s side growing as well, with the original Switch crew of Alessandra Dubbini (ITA), Antonia Schultheis (MLT), and Elysia O’Leary (IRL) being joined by multiple ILCA Worlds' medallist and SailGP strategist Maud Jayet (SUI), and Vilma Bobeck (SWE) who joins after a standout 2024 season that included an Olympic silver medal, a 49erFX World Championship title, and helming in the America’s Cup. But it’s not just about the stars – the Class is also joined at Foiling Week by local heroes Matteo Celon (ITA) and Massimiliano Antoniazzi (ITA), a hand full of youth sailors and Great Grandmaster Vello Ehvert (THA) all the way from Thailand.
With support from Ronstan and a growing global fleet, the Switch Class continues its upward trajectory. A packed international calendar lies ahead, including dedicated training camps, Grand Prix events, and the class’s Global Championship later this year.
The Class is thrilled to welcome Ronstan onboard and looks forward to a long-term collaboration focused on innovation – not just in components and hardware, but in the way events are delivered and experienced by the sailing community.
